Our Founder: Kakalbhai Ravjibhai Kothari
(1903 – 1965)
A visionary freedom fighter, journalist, and social reformer from Kathiawar, Gujarat. Kakalbhai Kothari founded Prabhat in 1934 as a powerful voice for India’s independence movement, fearlessly challenging British colonial policies through his editorials.
An active participant in the Non-Cooperation and Civil Disobedience movements, he led the political awakening of princely states and corresponded with Jawaharlal Nehru on nationalist activities. His work in Gujarati journalism remains legendary, mentoring countless writers and journalists.
Recognized by the Government of India as an unsung hero of the independence struggle, his legacy of honest journalism and unwavering commitment to truth continues to guide Prabhat today.
