On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Narendra Modi said India will never bow to any form of terror, paying tribute to the 26 civilians — mostly tourists — killed by Lashkar-e-Taiba militants in the Baisaran Valley on April 22, 2025.
A memorial made of black marble on the banks of the Lidder river has been constructed at Pahalgam, bearing the names of all 26 victims, including 25 tourists and local pony handler Adil Shah. The Indian Army marked the day with a pointed message: “For acts against India, the response is assured. Justice will be served. Always.” The US, UK, France, Israel and the European Union all expressed solidarity with India on the anniversary, reaffirming their commitment to fighting terrorism. The attack had triggered Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025 — India’s most extensive military response to cross-border terrorism in its history
